Adult Learn To Swim

This course is designed for adults of all levels. Instructors are from the American Red Cross. Swimming skills will be taught to adults who cannot swim or have a fear of water. We also welcome swimmers who may want to learn or improve various swimming strokes. (16 students max.)

Waterfront Lifeguard Training

Day: March 1,3,5,8,10,12,15,17,19,22- 2010, 6:30 - 10 p.m.
Cost: $325
This course will teach the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Prerequisites: Minimum age of 15 and pass a pre-course swim test. Certifications received upon completion of course; Lifeguard Training and First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED essentials. Maximum 10 students.

Water Safety Instructor Training (WSI)

Day: March 2,4,9,11,16,18,23,25,29,31 and April 2, 2010, 6:30 - 10 p.m.
Cost: $350
This course is designed to develop the skill and knowledge you will need to plan and teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. To participate in the Water Safety Instructor’s course you must be 16 years of age and be able to pass the designated Pre-Test.
CPR PRO Recertification May 14, 21, 28 and June 11, 2010, 6-10 p.m.
Aqua-Robics
Instructor: Sharon Graves
Tuesday & Thursday, 6-7 p.m.
Cost: $150
A water aerobic program for men and women of all ages and all physical conditions. Low impact but highly effective! A very safe, non-weight bearing form of exercise in the water. Aqua-Robics performed in the shallow end of the pool, therefore, even non-swimmers can enjoy the program.
Children Learn to Swim & Parent/Toddler Class (4 years & older)
Instructor: Lisa Maciejewicz/Mary Judge
Saturday, 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., or 1:30 p.m.
Spring: 11 lessons $140
The child learn to swim program is offered on Saturdays for 50 minute lessons. All levels of swimming are taught during each session, including pre-beginner, beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, and swimmers. There will be an aide with the instructor for the pre-beginner classes. American Red Cross swimming skills are taught at each level. No bubbles are allowed. NOTE: CHILDREN WHO CANNOT SWIM MAY BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN IN THE POOL. CHILDREN SHOULD BE TOILET TRAINED.
Family Swim
Instructor: Erin Woodbury
Friday, 6-7 p.m.
Cost: $140
Swim for members of the immediate family only. Depending on the skill level of those participating, water basketball and other activities will be able. The shallow end will be roped off for separate activities. No bubbles are allowed. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Lifeguards are provided. This program is not for lap swim and does not entitle participants to bring guests. Children should be toilet trained.
Lap Swim

Monday, 6-7 p.m.
Cost: $100
A one-hour program supervised by a professional but is not an instructional course. The pool is divided into fast, medium, and slow lanes. Participants will be assigned according to ability and speed. This course is designed for lap swim only. (12 students max.)
Power AquaRobics
Instructor: Donna Sandford
Tuesday & Thursday: 7- 8 p.m.
Cost: $150
For the water fitness enthusiast. This class will move a bit quicker than course one. Body moves to music with precision instruction for cardiovascular benefits as well as muscular toning. This class will be incorporating some deepwater work toward the middle of our 11-week session. Before beginning any exercise program, you should consult your physician.
Scuba Diving
Instructor: Susan Copelas
Tuesday: 7-10 p.m.
Cost: $225 6 weeks
Program will consist of classroom theory from 7-8 p.m. followed by pool instruction. 4 open water dives will complete the course and result in PADI open water certification. COST OF COURSE DOES NOT INCLUDE OPEN WATER DIVES.
