Northeast offers a wide variety of computer-based coursework in a multitude of disciplines. The courses range from the novice of understanding your home computer, the specialized architectural CAD program or simply enhancing skills in PowerPoint or Microsoft applications. For personal enhancement or for use in the workplace, Northeast has a computer course that is right for you.

Computer Courses

3D CAD Design and Rapid Prototyping

Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. - 11 weeks    $300
This class is an introduction to learning the basics of 3D mechanical design from conception to reality through the use of AutoCAD SolidWorks Software® and rapid prototyping. Students will learn methods employed by such companies as Harley-Davidson®, General Electric®, and Lego®. 
From the development of an idea, to original sketches to the final product, class participants will see ideas come to life. Students will be exposed to the industries best practices relating to mechanical dimensioning, 3D modeling, extruding and revolving techniques, problem solving and reverse engineering.

Architectural CAD – Residential

Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. – 11 weeks    $300
Learn how to layout basic plans and 3D models for residential construction. Learn how to develop a CAD model for a 1 & 2 –story house through the use of Chief Architect software. Students will learn how to layout kitchens, baths, and interior and exterior features of residential houses. Chief Architect is a powerful tool that helps the student visualize any new or remodeled project that you want to create. Understanding the fundamentals of architecture and tools within the program will allow each student to create their own designs by the end of this course.

Comptia A+ Test Preparation

Tuesday & Thursday, 6-9 p.m. – 11 weeks  $1200
A+ certification is a computer technology Industry association, (COMPITA) testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level computer service technicians. Books, lab fees and cost of certification exam are not included. Prerequisite: Student must have a basic understanding of DOS and windows.

Desktop Publishing – Basic
Instructor: Chris Sylvia/John Spagnola 
Monday, 6-9 p.m. – 8 weeks    $180
Students will be taught, using a Macintosh computer, basic skills in In-Design, Photoshop, Freehand and Microsoft Word. Also being taught will be how to use a scanner and scanning software. In addition to the preceding, students will be taught the basics of typography, mark-up, copy fitting and proofreading.

Microsoft Access

Monday, 6-8 p.m. – 8 weeks    $180
Access is a database management system, which is part of the Microsoft Office Professional series. It is an application, which allows a user to create and maintain collections of data for use in business and in the home. Typical examples include: mailing lists, customer records, inventory records, etc. This is an entry-level course, which will cover the basic skills necessary to create and maintain Microsoft Access databases. The skills covered will include: Table, query, forms, report and report generation and modification.

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Thursday, 6-9 p.m. – 8 weeks    $180
This course is designed to highlight the must useful features of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and how these applications integrate with one another to save time and money. Learn the basics of each component so you will be able to create letters, spreadsheets, mailing lists, labels, professional presentations and more.

QuickBooks with Bookkeeping Basics

Thursday, 6-9 p.m. – 8 weeks    $180
This class will give you an understanding of the accounting cycle so you can understand the financial end of business. This class is designed to take you step-by-step through the most common daily activities you would use while working with QuickBooks. You will understand charts of accounts, debit and credits, financial statements, accrual vs. cash basis, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, adjusting and more.

Understanding Your Home Computer

Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. – 8 weeks    $180
The course introduces students to basic computer understanding and concepts. Students learn basic keyboard, mouse and Windows functions and the introduction to word processing and spreadsheet programs. Topics also cover computer components, Control Panel, My Computer and the Start button.

This provides a history of the modern computer and Internet. Also, instructions on navigating within Microsoft Windows Operating System and using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The class is aimed at those who's first language is Spanish.
