Community enrichment courses present adult learners with the opportunity to upgrade present skills, pursue new ones or explore a hobby in these special courses. They have no entrance requirements. Students are registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accounting 1

This is an introduction to Accounting 1. You’ll learn basic accounting fundamentals with a brief comprehensive introduction to accounting both practical and straightforward. Students will be introduced to the complete accounting cycle from opening balance sheet to the closing financial statement.

Topics will include microcomputer, general ledger and accounting systems. Students will develop a simulated business project and learn to record transactions on a computer and generate financial records.

Cake Decorating (Basic)

Learn the basics of beginning cake decorating, borders, flowers and more. Learn how to frost and decorate all sizes and types of cake. Learn how to work with color flow and marzipan

College Financial Aid Workshop

This one night workshop is a must for all parents of college-bound high school students, especially freshmen and sophomores. We will demystify the college financial aid process and teach you how to access the more than $90 billion in financial aid dollars, monies that are even available to “high income” families and business owners. Strategies will be presented that will help you protect your assets by maximizing your eligibility for aid, effectively lowering your college costs. You will learn the optimum time to set the strategies in place. (Hint, best before junior year) and why if you wait until the financial aid deadline to file your forms, you may miss out on the full amount of aid for which you should qualify. You will also learn how to protect the equity in your home and enhance your retirement savings as you educate your child. A free comprehensive analysis will be provided for those attending the class.

Digital Photography Skills - Basic

Explore the world of digital photography. The course will cover the basics of digital photography and photo processing. This introductory course is designed to give participants an understanding of digital camera use and software enhancing techniques. Participants will learn how to maximize the use of their digital cameras: lighten, darken, and enhance photos, crop and post production effects.

Beginner to intermediate level 
Learn the basics from a pro! Chords, single notes… or, improve your soloing and chording skills for rock, blues, and slide guitar. Tips on getting the sounds you want from your equipment, suggestions on music selection, how to buy the right stuff, etc. You must be at least 16 and have your own instrument. Students will be responsible to pay for any books/extra materials that might be required. (8 students max.)

Introduction To Cooking

This course is designed for the novice in the kitchen to learn the basic skills in properly handling and preparing food from store to plate. Course will include 30 minute meals and international cooking as seem on TV.

Italian 1

This is an introductory course in Italian using basic vocabulary and dialogues to develop a communicative proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Popular Italian songs will be used to deepen the understanding and appreciation of the Italian culture. No prior knowledge of Italian is needed.

Italian 2

This course is a continuation of Italian 1. It will help students expand proficiency in the basic listening, speak, reading, and writing skills. Student’s personal interest will be addressed by enriching the curriculum with creative dialogues and expressions. There will be greater emphasis on regional dialects and differences, and a deeper cultural awareness of today’s Italy.

Knitting: Learn to Knit - Level One

If you never knitted or have forgotten how to, this is the class for you! Learn to knit, read a pattern, use of knitting tools, and understand terminology. Bring a skein of light, solid color knitting worsted weight yarn and one pair of short single point #8 knitting needles with you. Classes are open to all ages.

For those who know how to knit and who wish to advance their skills, i.e. two color knitting, reading charts, intricate patterns and cables etc., this is the class for you. Bring along a current project, a project you’re considering or a skein of knitting worsted weight yarn and a pair of single pointed knitting needles. Classes are open to all ages.

Oil Painting

Cost: $225

This course is a beginner’s introduction to the mechanics and materials of oil painting. You will learn about composition, values, and color while working from still-life and other type projects. You will also learn about the fundamentals of visual language thought the art of training your eye to see holistically. No experience necessary. Materials not included and must be purchased separately.

SAT Prep Course

Session 2: March 16th for May 1st SAT Testing

This rigorous course provides test strategies needed to master SAT testing. The course is broken into two 90 minute sections; English (6:00-7:30) and Math (7:30-9:00). The English section focuses on vocabulary, reading speed and comprehension, grammar, and essay composition. The Math section focuses on a review of basic math, algebra, geometry, critical thinking, and open response questions. Students may sign up for English, Math, or both. Each section is taught by a Certified Teacher. A minimum of 10 students per section.

Scrapbooking

Learn basic scrapbooking techniques from starting an album to finishing an album. This class will be dedicated to scrapbooking of all kinds. The class will be for beginner scrapbookers, advanced scrapbookers are welcome. The basic supplies will be needed for the first class…(Scissors, acid free–linen, free glue adhesives, stickers, Album.) This class will be a learning experience as well as a relaxing environment so not only can you learn to scrapbook, you will meet new friends or just get away for some free time and get some scrapping done for some of you advanced scrappers.

Spanish 1

Spanish 2

Spanish 2 contains a natural and personalized program of language acquisition begun in Spanish 1. The course is designed to broaden one’s level of achievement in the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Extensive vocabulary is introduced in con junction with grammatical constructions. Emphasis is placed on the ability to communicate and to express in Spanish. TEXT BOOK REQUIRED
