Community enrichment courses present adult learners with the opportunity to upgrade their present skills, pursue new ones or explore a hobby in these special courses. Students are registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accounting 1

Monday, 6-9 p.m. – 11 weeks   $150
Learn accounting fundamentals with a brief comprehensive introduction to accounting both practical and straight forward. Students will be introduced to the complete accounting cycle from opening balance sheet to the closing financial statement.

Cake Decorating (Basic)

Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. – 5 weeks   $120
Learn the beginning basics of cake decorating, borders, flowers and more. Learn how to frost and decorate all sizes and types of cake. Learn how to work with color flow and marzipan.

College Financial Aid Workshop - ONE NIGHT ONLY

Thursday, October 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m.   $50
This one night workshop is a must for all parents of college-bound high school students.  We will de-mystify the college financial aid process and teach you how to access the more than $90 billion in financial aid dollars, monies that are even available to “high income” families and business owners. Strategies will be presented that will help you protect your assets by maximizing your eligibility for aid and effectively lowering your college costs. A free comprehensive analysis will be provided for those attending the class. Early registration discount does not apply.

Cooking I

This course is designed for the novice in the kitchen to learn the basic skills in properly handling and preparing food from store to plate. Course will include 30-minute meals and international cooking as seen on TV. A $50 material fee will be payable to your instructor before the 3rd course.

Cooking II – NEW!

Wednesday, 6-9 p.m. – 11 weeks  $200
This course is an intricate in-depth culinary course focusing on stocks, sauces, soups, dressings, ethnic foods, butchering, and food preparation.  Although Cooking I is highly recommended it is not required to participate, but you should have a solid knowledge of cooking to participate. A $50 material fee will be payable to your instructor before the 3rd course.

 Digital Photography Skills – Basic

Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. – 10 weeks   $150
Explore the world of digital photography. The course will cover the basics of digital photography and photo processing. This introductory course is designed to give participants an understanding of digital camera use and software enhancing techniques. Participants will learn how to maximize the use of their digital cameras: lighten, darken, and enhance photos, crop and post production effects.

Guitar Lessons

Monday, 6-9 p.m. – 11 weeks   $200
Beginner to intermediate level
Learn the basics from a pro! Chords, single notes or improving on your soloing and chording skills for rock, blues, and slide guitar. You must be at least 16 and have your own instrument. (8 students max)

Invest In Your Debt – ONE NIGHT ONLY

Knitting: Learn to Knit – Level One

If you have never knitted or have forgotten how to, this is the class for you! Learn to knit, read a pattern, use of knitting tools, and understand terminology. Bring a skein of light, solid color knitting worsted weight yarn and one pair of short single point #8 knitting needles with you.

Knitting: Learn to Knit – Level Two

For those who know how to knit and who wish to advance their skills, i.e., two color knitting, reading charts, intricate patterns and cables etc., this is the class for you. Bring along a current project, a project you’re considering or a skein of knitting worsted weight yarn and a pair of single point knitting needles.

Oil Painting - NEW!
Instructor: Nancy O’Brien
Monday, 6-9 p.m. – 11 weeks   $200
This course is a beginner’s introduction to the mechanics and materials of oil painting. You will learn about composition, values, and color while working from still-life and other types of projects. You will also learn about the fundamentals of visual language through the art of training your eye to see holistically. No experience necessary. Materials not included and must be purchased separately.

Photoshop - NEW!

Thursday, 6 8 p.m. – 10 weeks  $180
This class is an introduction to the powerful software program developed by Adobe and is essential for anyone who wishes to work in graphic industry or just learn more about computer graphics.  This course will show students how to manipulate photographs, text and images with filters, special effects, and color changes.  The course will also cover fixing old photos, basic color correction, Photoshop layers and more.  Students taking this class will have a foundation of basic, to intermediate proficiency with this software.

Starting Your Own Business – NEW! $180

This “Entrepreneurship” class is meant for both the serious business person planning to open his or her own business, as well as, anyone who is simply interested in learning about what it takes to start and run a small business. Students will learn the essentials of planning a new business venture including sources of financing, evaluation of alternative new business ventures, and analysis of business functions such as marketing, cash flow, and exit strategies.  Students will create their own business plans and gain valuable feedback from other students through group discussions and individual presentations.

Understanding the Stock and Bond Market – NEW! TWO NIGHTS ONLY $100

The stock and bond markets are among the least understood areas in finance.  We’ll teach you all the fundamentals using easy-to-understand laymen’s language.  You’ll learn about dividends and yields, stock splits, price-earning ratios, company buybacks, IPO’s, how to recognize effective company management, the best time to buy or sell, the truth about “hot tip”, and more.  You’ll learn how to read and understand stock and bond tables, how to do your own research in reviewing companies in which you’re considering investing, and how to develop a basic investment plan.
