Auto Damage Appraisal
Instructor: Cary Silverstein

The Auto Damage Appraisal class is designed to give the student with at least two years practical experience in the automotive or related industry a solid approach in knowing how to appraise a collision damaged motor vehicle. The course also covers basic parts, terminology and description, front and rear suspension components, frames (both conventional and unitized), labor operations and painting. Also covered are Commonwealth of Massachusetts laws governing licensed appraisers and insurance companies. After covering and understanding these areas, we continue on with the actual writing of the damage appraisal itself. All aspects of writing an accurate and complete report are covered. This course is approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Insurance Appraisal Board, to be taught as a preparatory class for those wanting to take the State examination to become a licensed auto damage appraiser. High school diploma required. Book included.

Auto Body - Repair

This course is designed for individuals attempting to improve upon their basic skills in AUTOBODY REPAIR. Subjects covered include all aspects of sheet metal preparation and repair; application of plastic and fiberglass body fillers; preparing, mixing and spraying of automotive finishes; and other miscellaneous subjects including proper use of auto body hand tools and hydraulic equipment.

Auto Body - Repair

Auto Mechanics - Advanced

Learn hands-on repairs on your own or other students’ vehicles using professional automotive shop tools and equipment. All work is supervised by an ASE certified instructor. Students will focus on advanced diagnostic procedure. Prerequisite: BASIC AUTO KNOWLEDGE.    

Auto Mechanics - Basic

This basic introductory automotive course is designed to help the non-professional better understand how their car works. Learn basic maintenance and troubleshooting procedures. Topics will include brakes, suspension, engine, fuel, electrical, transmission and heating/air conditioning systems. Through classroom and shop demonstrations students will explore each system, scan basic fault data and learn what to do when the warning lights go on.

Small Engine Repair
Instructor: Stephen Hanson
Monday, 6-9 p.m.
Cost $150

Students will be trained in a small engine repair for the consumer. Repair instruction will include lawn mowers, snow blowers, chain saws and weed wackers. Students will be required to supply their own parts and equipment each night, beginning the first night. Tools will be provided by the school under the direction of the instructors.

Cabinetmaking - Advanced

Advanced cabinetmaking consists of individual projects, instruction in the use of tools, and emphasis on safe work habits. Skills are taught on a need -to- know basis. Equipment used consists of table saws, jointer planner, lathe, router, and various tools. PREREQUISITE for this class is BASIC CABINETMAKING or a thorough knowledge of all wood-working machinery. PARTICIPANTS SHOULD HAVE MATERIALS AND A PROJECT FOR THE FIRST CLASS.

Carpentry For The Homeowner

This course is for the student who desires to learn all the various aspects of the Carpentry trade. The curriculum will include safety, use of tools framing, stock selection, window/door installation, siding, roofing, decks and much more. Classroom and on shop instruction will be utilized to ensure that students understand each new carpentry/construction concept. (No previous experience is necessary.) This class can be used for required MA. State Apprenticeship hours.

Basic Home Improvement

Monday, 6-9 p.m. - 12 weeks
Cost: $320

Course includes basic wiring, plumbing and carpentry. This will provide you with a general overview for basic home improvement understanding.

10-hour OSHA General Industry Safety & Health Course
Cost $125
The OSHA 10-hour General Industry Health & Safety Course covers OSHA policies, procedures and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Participants successfully completing the hourly and course requirements receive an OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety & Health course completion card.

10-hour Construction Safety & Health Course
Cost: $125
The OSHA 10 hour Construction Safety & Health Course is intended to provide entry level personnel general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards in the construction industry. Instruction focus: hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention. Participants successfully completing the hourly and course requirements receive an OSHA 10 hour Construction Safety & Health course completion card.

Welding - Basic

Monday, 6-9 p.m.
Cost: $520 includes materials

The basic welding course will incorporate both lectures dealing with the theory of welding principles and practices and shop demonstrations given in the shop. Various welding processes pertaining to the curriculum will include: SMAW (stick welding), GTAW (Tig), GMAW (Mig), oxy-acetylene welding, brazing, flame cutting and plasma cutting. Students must supply their own personal safety gear i.e. helmet, safety glasses and gloves.

Welding - Advanced

Advanced Welding: (Basic Welding Part I completion required). The student enrolled in the advanced welding program will be allowed to focus in on specific welding processes which the student wishes to master. In addition to welding practice, the practical application of these welding processes will be made available through small projects, simulated job-like situations, and testing. Students must supply their own personal safety gear i.e. helmet, safety glasses and gloves.

Custom Motorcycle Welding & Fabrication

Develop the metalworking skills required to fabricate custom built motorcycles. This course will introduce the student to tank stretching, bracket formation, fender mounting and customization. Skills involving TIG welding, MIG welding, plasma cutting, drilling, rolling and bending will be demonstrated by the instructor and then performed by the students. Note: (welding not allowed on used gas tanks)

Harley Maintenance & Performance Modification

This course is designed to introduce students to the basic Harley-Davidson motorcycle maintenance, and performance modifications. The curriculum will include oil changes, tune-ups, troubleshooting problems, wheel and belt replacement, routine maintenance, cam selection and installation, cylinder head, piston, ignition and modifications. The class combines classroom instructions and shop demonstrations. Classes are taught by Peter Chambers, with 35 years of multi-brand motorcycle experience, a graduate of Harley Davidson University with a PHD/ Master of Service Technician status.

Manicuring

Go hands on in our 100 hour basic manicuring course! Learn all the skills needed to pass the state board examination, including : basic manicure, a variety of polish applications, hand and arm massage, hot oil and paraffin wax treatments, and anti-aging hand treatments. Plus you'll be trained on tip application as well as acrylic, gel and wrap procedures. Book and kit included.
